CU places second in ACC Clean Energy Challenge

A Clemson University team of biosystems engineering faculty and students won the $5,000 second-place prize in the ACC Clean Energy Challenge. Named Brewcovery, the team created a plan for converting food and brewery waste into sustainable products for growing grains and energy crops. Sponsored by the Department of Energy, the ACC Clean Energy Challenge is a competition for students from all universities throughout the Southeast to develop business plans for new clean energy companies focused on renewable energy, energy efficiency improvements and advanced fuels and vehicles. As runner-up, Brewcovery was invited to attend the Department of Energy Clean Energy Finals in Washington, D.C. on June 13.
