CU Police arrest Student on Drug Charges

Clemson University Police charged an 18-year-old student with several drug offenses.  On Wednesday, officers who were patrolling Johnstone Hall arrested Joseph Michael Bates of Summerville in his room. Bates was charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana and with possession with intent to distribute marijuana within proximity of a school, both felonies. He also was charged with four misdemeanor counts of possession of controlled substances. He was released from the Clemson City Jail on a $23,000 personal recognizance bond.
