Damage Suit filed against Seneca

A damage lawsuit alleging negligence has been filed against the Seneca Police Department, the City of Seneca, and three police officers, reports sister station WGOG. Entered in the Oconee Common Pleas Court, the lawsuit was filed for Layfette Hoover who was arrested last year on charges of disorderly conduct and failure to accompany and who, according to the pleading, won a dismissal on an appeal to the circuit court. The allegations center on the circumstances of Hoover’s arrest on April 8, 2016, outside his home on Livingston Circle. According to the lawsuit, the police used a taser to subdue Hoover who, after being jailed, required hospital treatment.
