Dangerous Heat to Grip Oconee, Pickens, and Anderson Counties Through Sunday

A severe summer heat wave will bring dangerously high heat and humidity to the Upstate through Sunday, with maximum heat index values consistently ranging between 102°F and 108°F across Oconee, Pickens, and Anderson counties.

Forecasts from the National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg show peak heat index values in Anderson and Seneca reaching 104°F to 108°F from Thursday through Saturday, while nearby Pickens and Clemson will experience values between 102°F and 106°F during the afternoon hours.

Residents across all three counties are strongly urged to drink plenty of fluids, limit outdoor exertion, remain in air-conditioned spaces, and check on elderly neighbors and outdoor workers who are particularly susceptible to heat-related illnesses.
