Deadly Weekend Motorcycle Crash in Anderson County

A motorcycle accident on Belton Street claimed the life of one person on Saturday night, according to the Anderson County Coroner’s Office.

The incident occurred at about 9:46 p.m. when the motorcycle rider was going west on Belton Drive and tried to overtake a vehicle that was also heading west. The vehicle slowed down to turn left and the motorcycle hit its side, making the motorcycle lose control and throwing the rider off the bike, the coroner said. The rider suffered serious injuries and was rushed to an area hospital, but died at 10:45 p.m.

The coroner identified the deceased as Thomas Clayton Barnaby, 50 years old. Officials said Barnaby was not wearing a helmet when the accident happened.
