Deputies arrest Aluminum Thief

Deputies with the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office have arrested a man in connection with an aluminum theft case in Long Creek.  The daily booking activity report from the Oconee County Detention Center lists 52-year-old Charles Stephen Haynes of Westminster was arrested Tuesday and has been charged with two counts of grand larceny and two counts of burglary in the second degree. According to warrants, Haynes is accused of breaking into Dixie Aluminum on two separate occasions.  During one of the break-ins, which occurred between February 1 and March 13, Haynes reportedly stole rolled aluminum, valued at $2,200.  During the second break-in, which occurred between March 27 and April 2, Haynes is accused of taking rolled aluminum, valued at $25,000.  Oconee County Sheriff’s Office investigator David McMahan arrested Haynes on April 9.  The investigation is ongoing; however, no other arrests are anticipated at this time.
