Deputies arrest Barricade Subject near Walhalla

Sunday evening, deputies with the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man near Walhalla who barricaded himself inside his home.   43-year-old Timothy Scott Blackwell of Fairfield Road was taken into custody without incident around 8:41pm Sunday evening. According to investigators, deputies responded to the home on Fairfield Road near Pickens Highway around 2:50pm in regards to a domestic call.  Once law enforcement responded to the scene, Blackwell reportedly ran back into the residence and barricaded himself inside.  The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team was activated and a command post was set up in the parking lot of Walhalla Middle School.  Negotiators were able to talk with Blackwell and he surrendered without incident.  Highway 183 was shut down for a time between Fowler Road and Freedom Drive, but the road reopened after Blackwell was taken into custody. Blackwell has been charged with criminal domestic violence in the second degree.  The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing their investigation and more charges may be pending.
