Deputies make arrest in Convenience Store break-in
The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office has arrested three individuals in connection with an early Monday morning convenience store break-in in which $7,000 in lottery tickets was taken. According to investigators, the Little River General Store in Salem had 23 rolls of lottery tickets stolen. The store’s camera system recorded two male subjects breaking-in and taking the ticket rolls. Later on, a deputy stopped at the Spinx on Highway 11 to see if anyone had tried to cash a lottery ticket. The clerk told the deputy that an individual came in to cash a ticket; however, the lottery machine notified him of an alert and would not cash it. The deputy then went to the Bountyland Quik Stop and was told the same thing. As the investigation continued, three individuals were arrested on charges related to the break-in and the attempted cashing of the lottery tickets. Deputies arrested 18-year-old Jon Conner Wacaster of Walhalla on charges of intent to defraud the South Carolina Education Lottery and accessory before the fact of a felony, 19-year-old Devin Ian McCrackin of Walhalla was charged with second degree burglary, grand larceny, and intent to defraud the South Carolina Education Lottery, and 27-year-old Richard Lewis Rittmayer of Walhalla was charged with second degree burglary and grand larceny. No bond has been set on the three suspects.
