DHEC: Back on Track, Says Director

DHEC officials said they’re getting back on track after a massive backlog in reporting COVID-19 test results. A busy few weeks led to no results being released between January 20th and January 25th, which caused some trouble for hospitals and people waiting for treatment. During that period, there were more than 1100 newly confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Oconee County.

DHEC Director Dr. Brannon Traxler said staff has been working to update thousands of test results into a single software format, which caused the backlog last week…

The department has ordered an additional 2 million at home COVID-19 tests from vendors across the country. DHEC said they are expected to arrive sometime in the next few weeks.
