DHEC COVID-19 Update

The South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) announced 527 new confirmed cases and 37 new probable cases of the novel coronavirus COVID-19, 22 additional confirmed deaths and 1 new probable deaths.

This brings the total number of confirmed cases to 143,495, probable cases to 4,139, confirmed deaths to 3,173, and 186 probable deaths.

Pickens County saw 14 new cases added on Tuesday, while Anderson County added 27 and Oconee County confirmed 44 new positive cases of COVID-19. There was also one COVID-19 related death each reported in both Anderson and Oconee Counties Tuesday, both in elderly patients.

Within the School District of Oconee County there are now at least 48 confirmed positive cases of coronavirus.

For the week that ended last Saturday, Clemson University reported 433 positive cases out of 7,481 tests. The positive number was about one-half what it was the previous week. By Saturday, a total of 259 Clemson students and employees were in isolation quarantine.

(DHEC) is providing COVID-19 testing opportunities today from 9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. and again on Thursday, October 1 from 8 a.m.-7 p.m. at the Seneca Health Department on North Townville Street, and on Thursday, October 1, 10 a.m.-3 p.m., sponsored by Healthy Me Healthy SC, Blue Ridge Community Center, 315 Holland Ave, Seneca.
