Dig into Reading at the OC Public Library this Summer

Readers of all ages will explore things underground this summer as the Oconee County Public Library presents “Dig into Reading” during their summer library program.  Special programs planned include visits from the South Carolina Aquarium, Porkchop Theatre Productions, Ronald McDonald, and Magic with Mr. Ray.  The Library will also be having a Diary of a Worm party, dinosaur digs for toddlers, crafts and movie events for kids and teens, and lots more.  The 2013 Summer Reading program is open to all young people, toddlers through teens, with programs and prizes for all ages.  Preschoolers (babies to pre-K) are invited to participate in the Early Literacy Summer Reading program, the Library has special prizes and programs designed just for the little ones, so don’t let them miss out on the fun.  Every child in grades Kindergarten through 5th grade who registers will receive a Summer Reading packet and a free reusable tote bag (while supplies last) at registration.  Upon completion of the program, children will receive a South Carolina Reading Award medal, certificate of completion, and a yard sign proclaiming that a “Summer Reading Champion Lives Here!” to place in your yard (limit one sign per family).  Teens, grades 6th through 12th, will receive a reusable book bag and a packet of information on how to participate in their Summer Reading program “Beneath the Surface.”  There will be a prize drawing for a FREE Kindle for teens as well as other prizes and incentives. Registration for the summer reading programs begins on June 3 at all library branches.  For more information, call or visit any of our library branches.  A complete calendar of events and description of each program can be found on the library’s website at http://www1.youseemore.com/oconee/.
