Duke Energy restoring power that supports water treatment facility operation

Duke Energy contractors worked Monday night and Tuesday to restore power to the Easley-Central Water District’s Water Treatment Facility in Norris, S.C., so that nearly 8,000 customers near the towns of Central and Norris can continue to receive water. Hurricane Helene’s fury damaged the power supply to the plant. The crew, from Canada, restored eight power poles and 15 spans of wire near the facility along Norris Hwy.

On Monday, Duke Energy helped the treatment facility locate a generator that provided electricity to pump remaining water from its ground tank to its upper tank; by restoring power on Tuesday, the plant will be able to continue pumping water from its source, Twelve Mile Creek.

Restoring power to critical infrastructure is essential to ensure citizens receive life-essential necessities, such as water and electricity.
