Early-morning Fire in Westminster

An early-morning fire in Westminster sent firefighters from two states to the scene.  Dispatchers said the call came in just after 5am about flames at a home on Cleveland Pike Road, near Unity Church Road in Westminster.  Officials said 50 to 60 firefighters from five departments, one from as far away as Stephens County, Georgia, responded to the scene to assist the Cleveland Fire Department. In addition, several deputies were sent to the area to help with traffic control.  Fire officials say no one was home at the time the fire broke out. The people who live there were staying with family.  Investigators said they do not know yet where the fire started or how, but will be at the home most of the day gathering information to figure that out.
