Eight killed on SC Roadways over Weekend

The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces a preliminary number of eight persons killed on state roadways over the weekend. As of Sept. 30, 2018, 738 people have died on South Carolina highways, compared to 736 highway deaths during the same time period in 2017. Of the 512 motor vehicle occupants who have died in 2018, 255 were not wearing seat belts. Through Sept. 30, 2018, 112 pedestrians have died compared to 106 in 2017; 76 motorcyclists have died compared to 93 in 2017; and 15 bicyclists have died compared to 14 in 2017 on state roadways. These numbers are preliminary and are based on fatal collisions compiled by the South Carolina Department of Public Safety as of 11:59pm on Sept. 30, 2018.
