Celebrate Oconee Gala

Oconee County’s Sesquicentennial festivities continue with the “Celebrate Oconee!” gala. This event will be held at Chattooga Belle Farm in Long Creek on Friday, Oct. 12, 2018. Guests will be dancing in their seats while enjoying dinner overlooking the foothills and listening to live music by The Wobblers. All who attend are invited to participate in the creation of an on-site collaborative painting and various auctions. This evening will also include the unveiling of the official sesquicentennial sculpture, created by local artists to represent the beauty of Oconee County. This will be the event of the year. All proceeds will benefit Oconee Heritage Center museums. Tickets are $150 per couple and may be purchased at the Oconee Heritage Center or online via Eventbrite search “Celebrate Oconee” (https://www.eventbrite.com/e/celebrate-oconee-tickets50242931962
OR WWW.OCONEEHERITAGECENTER.ORG). With the purchase of a ticket, each guest will be entered into an $1,868 raffle, reflecting the county’s birth year, and complimentary drink vouchers. “Oconee County is excited to partner with the Oconee Heritage Center for the Sesquicentennial Gala. This will be an evening of fun to celebrate the County’s 150th birthday and draw attention to the amazing opportunities and experiences that make Oconee special,” Phil Shirley, Director of Oconee County Parks, Recreation and Tourism said. “Oconee Heritage Center is very excited to be a part of Oconee County’s 150th anniversary! Oconee Heritage Center’s mission is to preserve and promote the history and cultural heritage of all of Oconee County and its people. The funds raised at this event will help us continue that mission by providing artifact care, exhibit development, educational and community programming for years to come,” OHC Director Leslie Hagerty said.
