Great Oconee Clean Up

In an effort to make Oconee County more beautiful and a greater place to live, the Oconee Economic Alliance, in partnership with the Keep Oconee Beautiful Association, the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office and the School District of Oconee County are sponsoring the second annual Great Oconee Clean Up. It is scheduled for April 21, and volunteers are encouraged to register, says Destination Oconee Manager Janet Hartman. “We have our second annual Great Oconee Clean Up scheduled for Saturday, April 21, which is the Saturday before Earth Day. We are asking folks to sign up through www.eventbrite.com and look for Great Oconee Clean Up. We are hoping to get about 200 folks there and we are going to be cleaning up Highway 11. The gathering spot will be Blue Ridge Electric on Highway 11, we will stage there and then the School District of Oconee County buses will take folks that are volunteering up Highway 11. We are hoping to clean from Highway 123 up to Walhalla High School if we have enough volunteers.” The second annual Great Oconee Clean Up is scheduled from 8:30am to noon. The first 200 people to register are guaranteed a t-shirt.
