Railroad Day at Oconee Heritage Center

On Saturday, Aug. 4, the Oconee Heritage Center (OHC) will be celebrating trains at Railroad Day. Along with this celebration of trains, the OHC will be celebrating the release of the new children’s book Adventures on the Blue Ridge Rail Road with Engineer Smith and Khloe by local author Frankie Johnson. “Along with a story-time featuring this book, we will be making train crafts, exploring the history of trains in our area, and much more,” said OHC Assistant Curator Jennifer Moss. “We get a lot of children that adore trains and we thought that a day celebrating trains would go right along with the release of this wonderful, new children’s book about the Blue Ridge Railroad.” Adventures on the Blue Ridge Rail Road with Engineer Smith and Khloe along with a companion coloring book will be available for purchase at Railroad Day. OHC will stock the book and coloring book in the museum’s gift shop. Railroad Day on Aug. 4, is from 1-3pm at OHC, which is located at 123 Brown’s Square Drive in Walhalla.
