‘The HiRoad’ Quilts at the World of Energy

Duke Energy’s World of Energy education center hosts “The HiRoad” quilt show Aug. 6-23, in the lobby. The show is presented by the HiFiber quilt organization in Seneca. “HiFiber is a group of quilters who come together to explore the creative possibilities of fiber artistry using quilts as the foundation of our artwork,” HiFiber member Barbara Sokol said. “‘The HiRoad’ challenge enabled our members to encourage and mentor each other in the pursuit of moving forward our skills, creativity and artistic vision further along the path of continual learning, experimentation and self-discovery.”
Each year, the organization designs a challenge for its members – “The HiRoad” allowed each fiber artist the freedom to create an original design, yet reflected the conceptual and physical representation of a road that brought continuity to each piece. “The road concept was completely open to each artist’s interpretation,” Sokol said. “It could be an actual road, a path or anything that represented a way of moving from point A to point B.” In addition to “The HiRoad” exhibit, HiFiber artists will have personal pieces on display in the World of Energy lobby as well. The exhibit is free and open to the public during the World of Energy’s normal business hours, 9am to 5pm, Monday through Friday. For more information, visit www.duke-energy.com/WorldOfEnergy.
