World of Energy to host ‘Sacred Spaces’ Author

Duke Energy’s World of Energy education center will host author and historic photographer Bill Fitzpatrick for its Super Tuesday forum at 10am on Tuesday, Oct. 9. The Super Tuesday event is part of the continuing celebration at the World of Energy of the 150th anniversary of the founding of Oconee and Pickens counties. Fitzpatrick’s new book, “South Carolina’s Sacred Spaces,” gives readers a look at endangered and abandoned churches across South Carolina. “Sacred Spaces” also introduces the people who work to keep these endangered historical sanctuaries from being lost to time. Fitzpatrick has donated the publishing rights and proceeds from the sale of the book to Preservation South Carolina to help ensure the future of these sacred spaces. A small reception will be held after the presentation. As always, all events at the World of Energy are free.
