Every SHS Senior applying to College

It was a busy October for the guidance office at Seneca High School.  During College Application Month, every eligible senior applied to at least one college, explains Seneca High School Guidance Director Karen Trammell.  “Every senior that is a diploma-level senior has now applied to at least one college.  I think we have had over 400 applications now completed by our 200 seniors.” Several representatives from area colleges spoke to students on campus during October, adds Trammell. “We ended up having 14 colleges on campus and had over 400 students attend those sessions.  Seven of the colleges actually waived the application fees for our students while they were on campus, so that was a huge benefit for our students to be involved with that.” Students were also given the opportunity to attend a college fair, concludes Trammell.  “We also took 207 students over to Southern Wesleyan for a college fair in the middle of the month.” The purpose of College Application Month is to show students that college opportunities are available to them as long as they take time to apply.
