Fair Play Traffic Fatality
A 79-year old Fair Play man died Tuesday morning in the emergency department at Oconee Medical Center, one hour after being involved in a two-vehicle collision on West Fair Play Boulevard. The 911 system was activated reporting this collision at 9:31am. The South Carolina Highway Patrol reported that the deceased was attempting to turn into a driveway when his vehicle was struck by a tractor-trailer. Oconee County Coroner Karl Addis pronounced 79-year old James Rufus Brown dead at 10:31am. An autopsy was performed Tuesday afternoon, which revealed that he died as a result of blunt force chest trauma. Brown’s manner of death is classified as accidental.
