Family Argument leads to Attempted Murder Charges

A family argument Saturday morning has resulted in attempted murder charges against a 63-year-old man.  Deputies with the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office received a call shortly before 5:30am Saturday in reference to a disturbance at a home on Hobson Street in  Westminster. Deputies learned that during a gathering of family and friends, there was an argument over possession of property and funeral expenses. According to investigators, one person left the gathering, and returned later with multiple weapons. Police say the man proceeded to fire shots into the home. No one was wounded. Deputies arrested 63-year-old James Webb and charged him with eight-counts of attempted murder.
