Fans reminded of Metal Detectors at Bobcat Stadium

It might take a little more time to enter Bobcat Stadium tonight for the big rivalry game between Seneca and Daniel. The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office in conjunction with the School District of Oconee County will be using metal detectors. This has the potential to slow down the process of entering the stadium. Gates will open at 6pm and fans are encouraged to arrive early. Seneca High School Varsity Football Head Coach Hal Capps encourages fans to bring as little as possible with them to the stadium. “It is the society that we live in today. Unfortunately, there are people out there in every city and every state that just don’t do things right. So, sometimes good people get caught up in things like that, so we have to go through the metal detectors. Speaking of good people, my dad carried a pocket knife in his pocket since he was like 6 or 7-years-old and a lot of people do now, but they got to remember that they have to go through that metal detector and it is going to show that they came in with a weapon and they are going to have to give it up. I’m sure that a lot of them have been carrying the same knife for years and years and don’t want to give it up. So, my suggestion is people lets leave them in the car or leave them at home.” Pocketbooks and diaper bags will be allowed, but will be subject to inspection. Bookbags and other large bags will not be allowed and should be left in vehicles. Coach Capps hopes to the stands filled with Bobcat fans tonight. “I guarantee you they are going to pack the visitor side of the stadium and we need to match it or best it making sure all our faithful family, friends and fans are there.” There has not been any active threats or any cause for increased concern for attendance at this game. Officials want everyone to enjoy the rivalry game tonight, but encourage fans to arrive early, be patient, and carry as little as possible into the stadium.
