Fatal Head-On Collision Under Investigation in Anderson County

The Anderson County Office of the Coroner and the South Carolina Highway Patrol are investigating a fatal head-on collision that occurred around 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, on Breazeale Road in Belton.

According to Coroner Greg Shore and state troopers, 49-year-old Waymond Ray Mashburn of Piedmont, SC, was driving a 2006 Nissan Rogue northbound when he crossed the center line and struck a southbound 2025 Dodge Ram pickup head-on. Mashburn died at the scene from multiple traumatic injuries, with his death ruled accidental, while the driver of the Dodge Ram was uninjured.
