Firefighter Cancer Health Care Benefit Plan Passes State Senate, Heads to House

South Carolina State Senator Thomas Alexander has introduced a bill – The Firefighter Cancer Health Care Benefit Plan. A recurring $3.5 to $4 million annual state expense is outlined in the bill. If approved by both the State House and Senate, the monies would cover premiums for both full time and volunteer fire fighters in South Carolina. Alexander, who represents Oconee and Pickens Counties at the State level, said in a statement that he believes the bill will get broad bipartisan support., especially since the bill passed it’s third reading in the Senate unanimously on Wednesday.
