Former Clemson Tiger Great Dwight Clark dies from ALS

The Clemson University community is mourning the passing of a legendary Tiger, Dwight Clark. On Monday, June 4, the 61-year-old lost his battle with ALS. At Clemson, Clark was part of the 1978 team that snapped a long bowl victory drought for the program by beating Ohio State. Following his play for the Tigers, Clark was a wide receiver for the San Francisco 49ers. He is probably best known for his game-winning touchdown for the 49ers against the Dallas Cowboys in the 1981 NFC Championship Game, known as “The Catch.”
