Free COVID-19 Testing This Week; Free HIV/STD Testing Today

The South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) is providing COVID-19 testing opportunities in our area this week.

Free testing will be available daily thru Friday from 9:30 am until 3:30 pm at the Seneca Health Department on North Townville Street; at the Pickens County Health Department on McDaniel Avenue; and in Anderson County at the Health Department on McGee Road on Thursday from 8 am until 5pm, and again on Saturday from 9am until 1 pm.

And in observance of World AIDS Day today, December 1st, DHEC will offer free tests for HIV, STDs, and Hepatitis C. By the end of 2018, there were more than 20 thousand South Carolinians living with diagnosed HIV infection. Of those newly-diagnosed in South Carolina, 68% were African Americans, 25% were white, and 5% were Hispanic.

Last year, South Carolina was selected by the federal government as one of seven priority states alongside 48 counties, the District of Columbia, and San Juan, Puerto Rico, as part of a new national strategy to end the HIV epidemic in the U-S by 2030.
