Funeral Services set for Bennie Cunningham

Beasley Funeral Home announces that the visitation and viewing for Bennie Cunningham, who passed away at the age of 63 on Monday at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio, will take place from 10am to 5pm on Saturday, April 28, at the funeral home located at 715 Augusta Street in Greenville. Funeral services are set for 2pm Sunday, April 29, at Seneca Baptist Church, which is located at 1080 South Oak Street, followed by a repass at the Clemson Football Indoor Practice Facility across from Death Valley. A wake takes place at 7pm at Ebenezer Baptist Church at 502 East South 2nd Street in Seneca. Cunningham graduated from Seneca High School and went on to play at Clemson University from 1972-75. He was a two-time first-team All-American tight end. He was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in 1976 and won two Super Bowls with the team. After his NFL career, Cunningham worked for the School District of Oconee County as a guidance counselor at West-Oak High School. He retired in 2013. Cunningham is survived by two sons and a daughter.
