Gamecocks and Tigers among Merchandise Top Sellers

College football fans in South Carolina are just clamoring to get their game day gear. The Collegiate Licensing Company released its annual list of top-selling institutions and manufacturers. These rankings are based on sales of collegiate merchandise from July 1, 2012 through June 30, 2013. The University of South Carolina ranked 16th for merchandise sold and Clemson University ranked 24th. The University of Texas at Austin topped this year’s list, followed by the University of Alabama. The retail marketplace for college licensed merchandise in 2012 was estimated at $4.62 billion. Money generated from the sale of officially licensed collegiate products goes back to the institutions to support various student and campus endeavors.
