Georgia Teen Drowns in Lake Hartwell Over 4th of July Weekend
An investigation is underway after a 19-year-old Georgia teenager accidentally drowned in Lake Hartwell early Saturday morning. Authorities say emergency crews were first called to the lake near the Harts Cove Apartments outside Seneca at 2:36 a.m. after Kayden M. Jabara, of Hoschton, Georgia, went missing while swimming with friends. Following an hours-long search, Oconee County Coroner’s Office personnel were dispatched to the scene around 8:20 a.m. after divers located Jabara’s body in 17 feet of water, roughly 60 feet from the shoreline. The coroner has officially ruled Jabara’s death an accidental drowning.
