Gold Cards available to Seniors in OC

Spring is a great time to watch athletics, with that in mind, the School District of Oconee County (SDOC) reminds the community about its Gold Card for seniors program, explains Oconee County Schools Assistant Superintendent of Operations Steve Hanvey. “Community members who are 65 and older can come to the district office and get a Gold Card, which lets them attend sporting events for free. So, it saves them on the ticket cost and allows them to get out there to see their grand children or their folks in their church or their neighborhood. But it allows them to watch the kids participate and we encourage them to do that. The Gold Card is not valid for playoff games or tournament games, but any regular season game where the money stays in Oconee County it is accepted.” This is a lifetime membership card for seniors in Oconee County. To receive a card, go by the School District of Oconee County Offices on South Pine Street in Walhalla.
