Gov’s School builds World’s Longest Ice Cream Sundae

On Friday, students, faculty and staff of the South Carolina Governor’s School for Science and Mathematics broke the world record for building the longest ice cream sundae on their campus in Hartsville.  Approximately 180 students, faculty and staff participated in building the 815 foot, two inch cool and creamy extravaganza. The ice cream was enjoyed by local leaders, residents and alumni who came to support the students, faculty and staff during this incredible undertaking. The ice cream sundae was measured and formal documentation will be notarized and submitted to the Guinness Book of World Records for certification, a process that will take up to 90 days. The longest ice cream sundae on record is 670 feet, one inch by the Light Youth Group in Cavalier, ND, set on June 9, 2012.
