Grant to Help Prevent Drug Abuse on Agenda at Tuesday County Council Meeting

An application for a federal grant of up to $600 thousand that could further organize Oconee County’s fight against drug abuse is on the agenda for Tuesday evening’s County Council meeting. Oconee Addiction Recovery and Solutions, which opened in March to house up to 20 in patient clients, is hoping to have a better local response to the abuse of opiods and other drugs. They, along with the sheriff’s office, want to reach those at risk of overdose with alternatives to incarceration, according to a representative. Oconee County Council meets at 6:00 pm Tuesday.
