Gunfire Erupts at Piedmont Motel, Suspect Held on Federal Charges

A shooting and armed robbery on June 3rd at a motel along Highway 153 in Piedmont has led to serious charges for DyQuan Burris, 24, who remains in custody. Deputies and detectives responded to the scene after Burris allegedly ambushed a victim hiding behind dumpsters, engaging in a struggle before demanding money at gunpoint. As the victim lay in the gravel lot, Burris reportedly fired two rounds, striking the individual in the leg.
Burris faces charges including Attempted Armed Robbery, Assault and Battery High and Aggravated, Possession of a Firearm by a Person Convicted, and Possession of a Weapon during a Violent Crime. He is currently held at the Anderson County Detention Center on a $100,000 surety bond and a hold for US Marshalls, as he is on federal probation for unrelated gun charges.
