Healthcare for the Uninsured

Healthcare can be expensive but it is often one of the first things overlooked when money gets tight.  Help is available to those struggling to make ends meet, explains Mountain Lake Access Health executive director Cortni Nations.  “We are a care coordination program, we are not a clinic, this is a completely different model.  We are going to help coordinated your medical care and your support services, even social services for you.  You need to call us at 885-7341 and we talk with you about the criteria.” Nations says this is a healthcare program for the uninsured. “Basically you have to be a resident of Oconee County or Clemson, Central or Six Mile to participate in the program.  Adults ages 18-65, no insurance, no Medicare, no Medicaid but we do except folks that are pending those two things, while they are in transition in getting insurance we will except you into the program if we have an opening and 200% at or below poverty level.  When you call us we will talk with you about the income guidelines.” Assistance is available and it all starts with a phone call, tells Nations. “We will set you up an enrollment appointment after a pre-screening over the phone.  Our goal is to make sure that if we set you up an enrollment appointment that you in deed are most likely going to qualify, so we like to answer your questions over the phone, do a little pre-screening and then set up an enrollment appointment and you come into the office.”  That phone number again for Mountain Lakes Access Health is 885-7341.
