Hearing set for Evans Jr. in Federal Court

United States Attorney Beth Drake announced today that a hearing for 37-year-old Thomas Lawton Evans Jr. of Boiling Springs has been set for Friday afternoon, Feb. 16, at 1:30pm in the federal courthouse in Jackson, Mississippi. Evans has been charged in a criminal complaint out of the District of South Carolina with kidnapping involving a person under the age of eighteen. Evans was arrested in Mississippi, and it is anticipated that after Evans makes his appearance in Mississippi he will be transported back to Charleston, South Carolina, to be arraigned in federal court on the complaint. The case is being investigated by Special Agents with the Federal Bureau of Investigation and by the Charleston Police Department. The United States Attorney stated that all charges are merely accusations and that the defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
