HEAT ADVISORY ISSUED WITH HEAT INDEX VALUES UP TO 107°F EXPECTED

The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg has issued a Heat Advisory for portions of Upstate South Carolina, northeast Georgia, and Piedmont North Carolina from noon to 8:00 PM EDT today, as dangerous heat index values reaching up to 107 degrees Fahrenheit significantly elevate the risk of heat-related illnesses. Residents are strongly urged to drink plenty of fluids, limit strenuous outdoor activities during peak daylight hours, wear lightweight clothing, and remain in air-conditioned spaces. Officials also remind the public to check on elderly neighbors and relatives and stress that children and pets should never be left unattended in parked vehicles, where interior temperatures can quickly become lethal.
