Heath’s Haven To Administer Upcoming Project To Benefit Children And Strengthen Communities In Oconee County

(Seneca, SC)———————–Last week, the United Way of Oconee County held a kick-off Empower Oconee event as the organization, along with Heath’s Haven, which is the community education arm of the United Way of Oconee County, were selected by Children’s Trust of South Carolina for a pilot program using the Empower Action Model to address Adverse Childhood Experiences to help children and thereby strengthen the community.

A grant in the amount of $50,000 has been provided for the organization and their community partners to come up with a project in the next 12 to 18 months to accomplish the goal of helping children in Oconee County.

Lisa Fields of Heath’s Haven says that her son, Heath, died about ten years ago from Leukemia. Lisa had done some work with the United Way and the family wanted to begin an effort to education and relationship building opportunities in the community to help keep Heath’s memory alive.

Heath’s Haven will be the administrator of the project that is currently being worked on and developed.
