Help sought in Death Investigation in Fair Play

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office seeks the public’s help in an active death investigation. Just before 1pm Friday, a neighbor called 911 after discovering a body on the property at 371 Tammi Lane in Fair Play. While on scene, deputies discovered a second body. Oconee County Coroner Karl Addis announces that an autopsy showed 66-year-old Wesley B. Lothery of Fair Play died from blunt force injuries consistent with having been assaulted by someone. His manner of death is classified a homicide. Addis says that Lothery is presumed to have died on May 24, or May 25. The autopsy on 66-year-old Ronald L. Holbrooks of Fair Play was inconclusive and will require toxicology analysis prior to a final cause of death being established. Holbrooks had no fatal injuries and is presumed to have died on May 26, or May 27. The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone who may have been in or around the area of 371 Tammi Lane in Fair Play in the last 10 days and may have seen something suspicious to contact them at 864-638-4111 or call Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
