Help sought solving Mountain Rest Area Burglary

Crimestoppers of Oconee County, Inc. and the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office seek the public’s help in its investigation into a recent burglary and larceny that occurred in the Mountain Rest area. A deputy responded to 263 Whetstone Road during the late morning hours of Nov. 1, and spoke with the property owner, who said that entry was made into a structure next to the residence, where some chainsaws and an undisclosed amount of cash was taken. It appears that the items may have been stolen sometime between the late morning hours of Oct. 30, and the time the crime was reported.
