Help to avoid Type 2 Diabetes

One in three adults is at risk for developing type 2 diabetes, reports the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC). It is a serious disease that can lead to complications like kidney failure, heart disease, stroke, blindness, and amputations. Type 2 diabetes doesn’t have to be permanent, it can be prevented by using healthy lifestyle changes. DHEC participated in the annual American Diabetes Association Alert Day® on March 27. They encouraged residents to take the Type 2 Diabetes Risk Test to find out if you are at risk for developing type 2 diabetes.
