Hinderances for Designated CATBus Stops in Seneca

Seneca’s annual report has revealed that the city’s status as a rural system is a hindrance to establishing designated bus stops along its passenger routes. The report, which came out of the recent strategic planning session of the Mayor and City Council, states that funding to build bus stops would only be available if Seneca had qualified for an urban designation, which it did not. As a result, the city will need to request capital improvement funding from SCDOT and FTA and provide local match for the development of bus stops. The report recommends including a line item for transit stop local match in the coming capital improvement plan.
