House Fire on 2nd Street Quickly Put Out

Late Thursday night, around 10:30p.m., Seneca City firefighters were called to a house fully on fire on 2nd Street. Many people spotted the flames and called 911. Fire crews arrived in moments. They immediately started spraying water on the burning house from outside, then went inside to search for anyone who might be trapped and to fight the fire directly. A bigger hose was used briefly to stop flames from spreading to the roof and the house next door. Additional firefighters from Clemson University were called in for extra help. The main fire was under control in about 20 minutes. Crews stayed on scene for a couple more hours to make sure everything was safe and to clean up. No one was hurt. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
