I-85 Northbound Is Open In Southern Oconee County After Accidents Shutdown The Northbound Side During The Morning Drive

(Seneca, SC)————–The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating two separate accidents that occurred earlier today along I-85 northbound that shutdown that side of the interstate for the morning drive. The accidents were located at mile marker 3, which is between Highway 59 and Highway 243. 

According to Trooper Joe Hovis with the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the first collision involved a dually pickup truck that was pulling a trailer in the left lane on I-85 northbound. The truck went left of center and struck the media barrier with the truck and trailer becoming disabled. 

The second collision occurred when a tractor trailer, also traveling on the northbound side, struck the dually pickup and the trailer. 

Only minor injuries were reported and Trooper Hovis says that there was not a HAZMAT spill as a result of the accident

Trooper Hovis notified 94.1 The Lake around 9am this morning that the northbound side of the interstate had reopened.
