Incident on SC 24 Near Snow Creek Road

An incident on SC 24 at Snow Creek Road near Oakway happened this morning around 9:00am, officials said. We are told that LifeFlight landed, and Oconee Deputies and Emergency Services are on scene. We will bring more as it becomes available.

Below is a statement from the New Horizon Electric Cooperative President and CEO Bobby Smith about the Westminster substation.

“On Thursday morning, an incident occurred at a Westminster electrical substation on New Horizon Electric Cooperative property that energizes Blue Ridge Electric Cooperative distribution lines. Two New Horizon employees were affected and transported to area hospitals by first responders. New Horizon has no further information available as the incident remains under investigation. Our thoughts and prayers are with those affected in this incident,” said New Horizon Electric Cooperative CEO and President Bobby Smith.

Officials said that both of the New Horizon Electric Cooperative employees are listed in stable condition. They are continuing to be treated for their injuries at the Joseph M. Still Burn Center in Augusta, Georgia. The cause of this incident remains under investigation.
