Inmate dies after Event at OC Detention Center

An inmate has died following being found unresponsive in a holding cell of the Oconee County Detention Center. Oconee County Coroner Karl Addis announces that 26-year-old Nathlee Nicole Wright of Gastonia, NC, died Wednesday morning at Greenville Memorial Hospital. On Jan. 12, she was arrested and booked into the Oconee County Detention Center. On Saturday, Jan. 20, shortly after 2pm, Wright was found unresponsive in a holding cell. Detention center officers administered CPR and EMS was summoned. Addis says that Wright was resuscitated and initially treated at Oconee Memorial Hospital prior to being transferred to Greenville Memorial Hospital Saturday night. No traumatic event occurring to Wright has been reported, according to Addis and information on her past medical history is being obtained. An autopsy has been tentatively scheduled for Friday to assist with the death investigation. SLED was requested by Oconee County Sheriff Mike Crenshaw to investigate the death as it occurred at the detention center.
