Internet and Phones working again in SDOC

Thanks to the hard work of a few individuals, internet and phone service has been restored in the School District of Oconee County (SDOC), says Assistant Superintendent of Operations Steve Hanvey. “We got off to a tough start at the schools, we had a bad piece of hardware with the county that was feeding directly into all of our schools. It was funny, the District Office was not effected by it because we are on a different system, but we are very thankful for Mike Powell and his folks with the county. They did a great job of getting the replacement part in there and getting it up and running in as quick a time as we could ask for. So, we have been up and running now for probably 45 minutes to an hour and we feel like we are in good shape now for the rest of the day and going on. We want to thank Mike Powell with Oconee County for his work with our Technology Department and Josh Sheppard, our director, for what they did to get it going in a quick way.” Internet and phones went down throughout the district around 8am and service was restored a few hours later.
