It’s Important to Vote!

With only 23% of eligible voters in Oconee County casting ballots in the 2018 South Carolina Primary Elections, Flora Riley, chair of the Oconee County Elections Commission, is stressing the importance of having your voice be heard at the polls. “It was a beautiful day to go out and vote. We wish we had a higher percentage than we did but for those people that went out and voted, I think they felt really good about voting. We just hope in November we they vote again in November for the full election that will be a higher turnout. So, it was just a great day for everybody but just wish we had a higher percentage of people voting. So, please come out and vote. Come out and vote in the runoffs in two weeks. Come out and vote in November. It really means a lot; it’s all about your life, it’s all about participation in government and your day-to-day activities and life. It is just real important that we do that.” A runoff is scheduled for June 26, to decide the Republican nominee for governor and attorney general. The 2018 South Carolina General Election takes place on Nov. 6. To learn more, visit www.scvotes.org.
