James M. Brown Scholarship Recipient named

A Walhalla High School senior is this year’s recipient of the James M. Brown Scholarship for the Arts. Since 1995, the James M. Brown Scholarship program has awarded scholarships to eighteen seniors from the School District of Oconee County.  The program was privately established to honor former Superintendent of Education, James M. Brown.  The award is given annually to provide scholarships for Oconee County seniors who plan to enter a college or university to major in dance, drama, music, or visual arts.  On Friday, four Oconee County students auditioned for the prestigious award. The James M. Brown Scholarship for the Arts Selection Committee named Rachel Mangan of Walhalla High School as the 2013 recipient of a $4,000 scholarship.  Rachel plans to attend Clemson University where she will major in Art Education.
