James named OMC Employee for April

Oconee Medical Center named Sarah James, RN, Employee of the Month for April 2013.  James is a nurse on the sixth floor of the hospital.  She shares the duties of second shift charge nurse and is thought of as an advocate for not only her patients, but also her coworkers. According to her nomination, James voluntarily takes notes at staff meetings to share with her coworkers who cannot be there. She takes the initiative to educate staff about new projects and make sure everyone has the information they need. Her coworkers also come to her with concerns or issues they may have and James takes the time on a monthly basis to discuss them with the director of the unit. Most recently, James served as a super-user for the new Paragon computer system. She has been involved with training and assisting many employees with the new system and is a tremendous asset to the Paragon team. “Sarah has high expectations for herself and her co-workers and doesn’t hesitate to hold her co-workers and herself accountable,” said Lisa McKinney, RN, Nurse Manager of fifth and sixth floor. “The physicians seek Sarah out as a resource when they are rounding on the unit. She is highly respected by everyone and always displays the utmost professionalism.”
